Can LSPI lead to head gasket failure? The 1.5T GDI in the Accords have been steady failing at 100k at the thin spot between bores. Never known a dealership to put anything but bulk synthetic blend in anything unless the customer is paying a serious upcharge for it.

what's the difference in life expectancy with thinner rings.

what are your thoughts on drain plugs with magnets on them? I change oil every 5k and always have a little bit of fine iron dust on the drain plug (with a good filter), should I be worried about abnormal wear?

Not sure how top tier fuel will clean the intake valves of a car that has direct injection that bypasses the intake valves. Obviously the cars with multiple injectors that spray intake valves and the combustion chamber are a different discussion. I do use top tier gas whenever possible for sake my pistons and injectors.

I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked. When you say wire mesh filter, are you referring to metal reinforced synthetic fibre media filters? E.g. Purolator Boss? Many thanks in advance.

hey guys kinda new to this, and i need to break in a truck motor and what i got from here is that ypu need load and torque to break in the rings. Now i suppose most of yall are doing this for cars but with a truck would it be dumb to just hookup a real heavy load via trailer or sumto simulate load and toque? prolly wot be doing this😂 but i am curious

I’ve never seen this top tier fuel you’re speaking of. Every station I’ve been to only offers regular plus or premium.

I've watched about Additives, Zinc and Filter Types... Filter Types stood out the most to me 🥺 I'm currently running K&P Screen Filters in two of four Vehicles (I would have Screen Filters in three of four of K&P offered a Screen Filter for my 2007 Audi A6 Avant 3.2L). I've been running a K&P Screen Filter in my 1983 Suzuki GS1100ES since around 2007? It currently has around 8,500 Miles (purchased new in April of 1983) I've been running a K&P Screen Filter in my 2015 Sea Doo GTX iS 260 Limited PWC since soon after I purchased used with 54 Hours in April of 2020. It now has about 230 Hours and I've discovered that it must be down on HP? I haven't completed my process of elimination yet (I've tinkered and changed many things along the way), it's very possible that it's down on HP due to the "Ribbon Delete" that I performed well over a year ago? I've ordered a almost new Intake Manifold with Injectors from a Powersports Parts Recycler (pulled from a 2016 RXT 260 with only 33 Hours) which won't arrive until late in the day Monday (FedEx). It never dawned on me that the Screen Oil Filter I've been using could be killing HP? FYI: I know that it's down on HP due to Max RPM nor Max Speed is no longer being achieved. First thought it was the Aftermarket Impeller (Solas SRZ-CD-15). I purchased a Used slightly damaged OEM Impeller and just by chance I was invited to a friend's Fishing Camp on Dickinson Bayou Texas which is Brackish Water as opposed to the Salt Water I predominantly ride in on Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico (I live on the West End of Galveston Island in Texas). On Dickinson Bayou with the OEM Impeller I was easily hitting the Max RPM Limit of the ECM of 8,000 RPM but only seeing 65 MPH (should be at least 67 MPH). Following week I dropped it in Galveston Bay... Now only achieving 64 MPH @ 7,800 RPM. Only change was the salinity of the Water. Next change will be the Set of Fuel Injectors. Then back to the Solas Impeller... I had been achieving 65 MPH @ 7,600 RPM on Galveston Bay. Lastly I will swap out the Intake Manifold with the Bone Stock Unit and Test again. If it's still not Performing as it should (7,900-8,000 RPM at 67 MPH or higher? / I currently am running a fairly New Stock International Version ECM with a GPS Speed Limit of 72 MPH), then the problem could be excessive Engine Wear due to the use of the K&P Screen Oil Filter? BTW: I've been running nothing but Shell Rotella T-4 15W-40 I will keep you updated. Hopefully you have found this story interesting? 😜 I'm a retired Professional Wrench (Audi's are my Specialty, retired since June of 2018, I'm 68 currently)

Abraded coating is the way to go

Top tier is important, but not as important as using dual injection on a direct injected engine to keep everything clean. No amount of top tier fuel on a direct injected engine that does not also have poor injection will stop the carbon buildup on the intake side.

I have told my wife a times. Don't use kroger gas! She does anyway. I always fill with costco top tier. And add cleaner every couple of months. My spark plugs are spot lesss. Engines run smooth as silk..

I worked on the gas docks as a youngster the only difference between stations was the package added to the gas tanker after filling up before going to station.

Steve Morris Engines has done some testing with the Line 2 Line coatings as well and was very impressed. He has a couple videos on his channel in extreme performance engines with the coating.

Be very careful, when doing this process your making hydrogen rapidly.

When is some one going to do a skirt finish that holds the oil so it helps rather than just rely on hone pattern

I have motorcycle customers who insist on those wire mesh filters. Consider that the factory oil filter is 20 micron rated at 95% flow. Those wire filters have great flow, but poor filtration, and adding a magnet isn't going to do much for ferrous metals and nothing for aluminum debris. Those filters are a scam.

Lake, how long does the coating last? Could I put some on pistons for a sbc for a truck and go 200 000, 300 000 km or more? Is the coating residue damagable for the engine's internals, will they agregate together and block an oil passage, do you have some info on long term use? Great video btw ;)!

Things that you said like putting the pressure on the rings. Well to maximize that pressure on the range you need to have a wide open throttle. Why. Because that's what makes volumetric efficiency.
